In this post, we will share with you our Top healthy breakfasts in Dubai.

We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Choosing a healthy option helps you to control overeating and to curb sugar and carb cravings during the day.

Managing a healthy lifestyle in Dubai is not always the easiest: junk food is cheap and delivered straight to your door, most of us have busy work schedules, and the warm weather doesn’t allow us to practice outdoor sports in the summer… But, wait a second… Are all of these statements just excuses? In the last years we have seen a huge increase in the offer of jogging tracks, sports events, etc. and the same applies to healthy options when it comes to restaurants and cafes. So let’s put the justifications aside and make some health-oriented decisions.

During the weekends we try to discover new healthy spots around Dubai and we would like to share with you some of our favorites for breakfast:

This café is definitely top on our list for healthy breakfasts in Dubai, not only because its location is super convenient for us but also because it offers the magic formula for a perfect breakfast: high quality ingredients, affordable prices, good service and a really nice atmosphere! We absolutely love it! Breakfast is served until 11:30am during weekdays, and 1pm during weekends.

We were not familiar with Açaí until we travelled to Rio de Janeiro, and we were missing out big time. This delicious berry is one of the healthiest fruits you will ever find. It is an indigenous berry found in the Amazon rainforest. It is full of antioxidants, which improve your skin and has anti-aging effects. It is proven to help fight heart disease and cancer and some studies prove that it helps to achieve weight loss goals. An amazing superfood that you should consider adding into your diet!

Since we came back from our trip, we have been searching for places to get our fix of Açaí in Dubai. That’s when we found The Acai Spot (queue ray of light and angels singing). Nicely decorated, this place pulls you into a chilled Brazilian atmosphere, provides a really good service, and has a wide menu of healthy options, most of them including Acai as their base ingredient.

One of the best restaurants of the new extension at Mall of the Emirates is “Common Grounds”, a new concept from the owners of the awarded café “Tom & Serg”.

Normally we are not really keen to dine inside a mall, but this Australian-European inspired café is a really nice option if you want to have a nutritious breakfast or simply a good coffee once you are at the mall.

Located in the heart of Jumeirah, this place is not only a healthy café, but also a super-cool concept store. Once you are there, you will feel at home, a pleasantly designed one. You can find everything from jewelry to clothes or fine decoration from selected designers.

All the food served at Comptoir 102 comes directly from organic farms (they even have a daily menu accordingly to the harvest). Everything is sugar and dairy-free, and they also have some options without gluten. And the most important, it’s all delicious!

5.  More Café, Al Murooj Rotana.

More Café has 3 different branches between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Our favorite is located at Murooj Rotana (in front of Dubai Mall). Its outdoor area makes it a really enjoyable place for breakfast or lunch (well, during fall and winter at least).

One of the highlights of More Café is its diverse menu, having options of dishes from all over the world. The prices are reasonable and the quality of the ingredients is superb. You can also buy their bread, coffee and ice-cream to-go at their grocery shopping area.

What to eat: the vegetarian sandwich is a must and you can never go wrong with their eggs benedict!

After a long week we kicked off our weekend at Bertin Bistro & Restaurant in Al Manara along Sheikh Zayed Road. We tried their healthy options for breakfast and we are highly impressed!

We came across Bertin Bistro & Restaurant the first time thanks to their exciting and engaging social media presence (check out their Instagram and Facebook). The beautiful photos of all the delicious food makes you want to come back and try more than just the breakfast.

Bertin Bistro

The Bertin Bistro & Restaurant is conveniently located along SZR, opposite Times Square in Al Manara. The interior of the restaurant is  different than the usual places you can find in Dubai. It truly has character and will take you on a  journey of how Bertin Bistro got this far. On the walls and in the menus you can see a timeline with stories and photos of Mr. Bertin on how he started in France and then took inspiration from his time in Spain (Andalusia) and Morocco.

Bertin Bistro

The breakfast/lunch menu has a wide variety of options. We’ve never seen this many types of eggs benedict, so we simply had to try them. They serve many other healthy options, like the chia seed bowl with fruits which we ordered.

Bertin Bistro

The salmon eggs benedict we chose were the best ones we’ve tried in Dubai so far! The salted spinach and tomato concasee was incredibly tasty and with the beautiful presentation it’s a true winner. For drinks we enjoyed a fresh orange juice and a Tropical sensation (mango & banana smoothy). We will definitely come back to try their different types of eggs benedict, such as the Bertin’s Benedict and the Lobster Benedict. The chia seeds bowl with fruits really tasted amazing with the high quality of ingredients that were used.

Bertin Bistro

To finish our breakfast we had the cutest cappuccinos with a camel print of cacao on top and a slice of delicious gluten free coconut cake with pineapple.

Bertin Bistro

We highly recommend to visit Bertin Bistro & Restaurant for a delicious breakfast. They even do a special breakfast menu for just 55AED which includes more than you can think of. The atmosphere is great and the service is perfect. We will definitely go back soon and possibly try the dinner options as well since they all seem promising!

If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, you might have seen all the food festivals we have had at the iftars we went to this Ramadan (we have reviewed them here in case you want to get some ideas). In order to compensate those heavy dinners, I decided to try and test several companies of juice cleanses in Dubai. One day per week during the Holy month, I stayed liquid by only having juices, trying a different brand every time, and now I will tell you everything about the best Dubai juice cleanses!

Dubai juice cleanses

My experience with the juice cleanse

It’s difficult to be a person with a strong opinion: the number of times that I said “I will never try that” and then I had to swallow my own words is endless 🙂 And that was exactly the case with the juice cleanses. I love (solid) food and I have to be honest, I was really scared that I wouldn’t be able to spend a full day with only juices. And, surprisingly, it was way easier than I could’ve imagined. I absolutely love juicing and I will incorporate it in my diet whenever I want to give my body a break (after holidays, before a big event or simply when I feel I’m lacking energy).

During the days of the juice cleanses, I didn’t have any sugar cravings (which I often have, especially after dinner). Incredibly, I felt fuller than any other day eating solid foods! There was only one day that I had to eat one carrot because I felt a bit weak (girls issues), but the experience was overall amazing!

What happens once you start a juice cleanse (even for one day) is that your body enters into a detoxification process. Your intestine system will have a break and your organs (liver, kidneys, stomach) will have time to heal, since they will have to work less with only the liquid intake.

The best Dubai juice cleanses

I have tested 4 different Dubai juice cleanse companies and I will tell you everything about them! I have ordered them by chronological time of testing:

Detox Delight

Because I was scared of not being able to spend a full day without solid food, my first juice cleanse was a half liquid cleanse by Detox Delight. This option is called Eat Clean Delight on their website, and it combines detox solid food (yogurt for breakfast, vegan Pad Thai for lunch and a soup for dinner) and 2 juices as snacks during the day.

I have to say that it was a great idea for Detox Delight to send me this kind of package, since it was my first time doing a juice cleanse, it helped me getting ready for the next one the week after.

It wasn’t only easy to follow this plan, everything was delicious too! I loved their packaging, I kept the glass jars for my future recipes (in case you recognize them on our pics)! All the packages they offer are designed by a nutritionist. Before the cleanse,  you will receive a super detailed email with a Detox guide that contains all the information you need for the pre and post-detox days, and they even give you recipe ideas of how to eat healthy afterwards! Super recommended!

Price: Eat Clean Delight plan costs AED 370 for 1 day (delivery within Dubai included), AED 1200 for 3 days and AED 1495 for 5 days. Same price applies for the regular juice cleanse (so you can compare it equally with the other brands below).

Organic Press

Organic Press was my first REAL juice cleanse. After trying a day with half food/half juice, I went all in with only liquids. And it was great!  They also sent us Ramadan juices for the days after the cleanse, and they were superb! Especially the Apricot Rose. They were so tasty, with a smoothie texture but very low in calories. Yuuum!

I had 6 x 500 ml juices to drink throughout the day. So every 2-3 hours I had the first juice as late as possible (normally when I was reaching the office at 9 am) and finishing 2 hours before going to bed. During the cleanse, you get to drink more water than usually, to help your body detoxifying. So I drank around 2,5-3 litres, and between the juices and the water I felt super full (I think I’ve never spent so much time in the toilet than those juicing days haha).

The juices that they send you, are ordered from 1-6, so you know which one to have each time. I chose the Intermediate cleanse, which consists of 3 green juices, 1 fruit, 1 root and 1 with almond milk. These were the juices I had:

1. Kale, lettuce, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger. A bomb of healthy goodness! A bit of a strong taste at the beginning, but you get addicted to it. Very fulfilling.

2. Pineapple, apple, mint. Glorious!

3. Kale, lettuce, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger.

4. Apple, cucumber, ginger, carrot, kale, lettuce, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger. Super nice and refreshing!

5. Betroot, apple, cucumber, carrot, lime and ginger.

6. Raw almonds, dates, vanilla, himalayan salt and agave. My favourite! A super amazing taste to end the cleanse day. It helped me to sleep like a baby.

Price: 1 day of cleanse is AED 264, 3 days AED 792 and 5 days AED 1,320.

Essentially

Essentially juice cleanse was similar to the Organic press one, only one of the juices was different. I really like this company, the packaging of the juices is really nice and clean and the taste is addictive! Of course, it was also easier because I already knew how much I liked juicing and that I was able to finish it victorious 🙂

I chose the Revitalization package and as per their recommendation, changed the Spicy Lemon juice by the Black Lemonaid (great idea!!)

The juices I had were as per the below:

1. Essential green: Kale, lettuce, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger.

2. Pineapple Powwow: Pineapple, apple, mint. Glorious!

3. Essential green: Kale, lettuce, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger.

4. Black Lemonaid: Purified water, lemon, apple, maple syrup, activated charcoal, himalayan salt. This was the best! I really enjoyed having a black dose of lemon! Yummy!

5. Beet Aid: Betroot, apple, cucumber, carrot, lime and ginger.

6. Vanilla Cashew: Purified water, cashew, dates, coconut butter, vanilla, himalayan salt

Price: 1 day of Revitalization package is AED 299, 3 days AED 897 and 5 days AED 1,495.

Go organic

UPDATE*: After our summer holidays, I tried the 3-days Refresh cleanse from Go Organic and the juices were much nicer (or more my taste) than the Ayurvedic one. I lost 2 kg in only 3 days and, although the last day was hard (I was already really tired from the holidays), I will definitely recommend to try that cleanse and I’m glad I did because I went to India without the after-holidays bloating feeling! Awesome!

I made a mistake by ordering the juices at Go Organic. While with the other 2 companies I tried their best sellers, with this last one I wanted to be more innovative (since I was a complete expert on juicing), and tried their Ayurvedic purify cleanse. I read the name of the ingredients of this plan on their website and it sounded like the best end for this month of juicing. Açaí, berries, honey… it was definitely going to be my favourite. But unfortunately, some of them were not as good as I expected, especially the 1st and 5th. The other juices were nicer and I could finish them. I am sure that if I would have ordered any other of their packages, I would have liked it much more. What I really liked from Go Organic is their follow up during the day of the cleanse. They also send you lots of information for the pre and post cleanse, which I found really useful (especially during that day, you really want to read all the good things that are happening to your body, you feel much better immediately).

These were the 6 juices I had:

1. Karma Ayurveda: chia seeds, blueberries, pineapple, strawberries, spinach, pure aloe vera and Indian gooseberry.

2. Bhakti  Ayurveda: cucumbers, coconut water, lemon, pure aloe, pineapple, mint, apple and brain tonic.

3. Dnyan Ayurveda: lemon, filtered water, activated charcoal and raw organic honey.

4. Young love: chia seeds, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries and stevia.

5. Kapha ayurveda: cucumber, spinach, kale, açaí powder, blueberries, raspberries and raw organic honey.

6. Pitta Ayurveda: sprouted almonds, date paste, Himalayan  pink salt, vanilla  bean and ionised water.

Price: the Ayurvedic purify cleanse is AED 220/ day.

I hope you liked the post! Are you as stubborn as me and think you can’t do it? I recommend you to try it for one day, you will be surprised with its benefits after only 24 hours! Definitely worth it! 🙂
